According to American researchers, large amounts of sugar affect the hypothalamus, an area in the brain that causes an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. In recent years, salt has been criminalized for the same reasons, reports Monday 15 September. Daily Mail.
Scientists in New York and Kansas highlight a recent study of 8670 French adults, who found no cause and effect link between salt and high blood pressure.
For years, the population has been urged to reduce salt consumption, so as not to exceed the equivalent of one teaspoon a day (i.e. 5 ml). According to experts, sodium would increase the risk of attack by a quarter and cause three million deaths each year worldwide.
